Because
He Said So
I’ve been
thinking about how much knowledge we have today. You
can flip through the channels on TV or surf the internet
for a few minutes and find out almost anything there is
to know about anything. History, nature, science,
cooking, building, exercise, medical problems, etc. The
list is endless.
Then with
all our learning, we apply much of that to our
Christianity. For instance, it’s now scientifically
proven that what we say can set off a reaction in our
brain and affect how we feel. We can talk about how bad
we feel or how we think we might get sick and actually
talk our bodies into that. In other words, our words
are powerful. Of course, that concept was already
written in the Word of God many years ago (Proverbs
18:21). Also, they say now that happy people are less
prone to sickness and even that laughter is healing.
Well, that’s a Biblical concept as well! “A merry heart
doeth good like a medicine” (Proverbs 17:22)!
It’s
really neat how we are finding out that science is
lining up with what God says! But Hebrews 11: 6 says it
is our faith that pleases God, not our knowledge. Noah
didn’t have any scientific proof that it was going to
rain, yet he built the ark because God said so. Sarah
was past child-bearing years, but gave birth to a son
because she judged God to be faithful. Joshua led the
children of Israel to march around a city 7 times
believing the promise that God would cause the walls of
Jericho to crumble on the last day. Now those things
don’t make any sense scientifically, but by faith, these
people believed God and then reaped the benefits of
doing so.
My nature
is to try to figure things out. I like answers and I
want a plan! But I have learned that it pleases God
when I just believe Him at His word! And when I believe
Him, He is able to do what He wants in my life and I
experience peace, joy, abundance and so much more! What
would happen if we took God’s Word, His wonderful
promises, at face value and just believed Him?
Think about it.
